ASPIRING ARCHITECTS // design build summer camp
Summer Camp, July 2013, Brookline, MA
I led 4 counselors and 12 campers, grades 3-7, at a design/build summer camp called Aspiring Architects. I created the rigorous two-week curriculum and organized and designed both inside and outside workspaces at The Park School. Over the course of the two weeks, I taught campers about construction, tool use, as well as basic design principles, and then aided their efforts to design and build three to four lightweight structures. The structures made use of building materials such as wood strapping, bamboo, corrugated plastic, and colored trash bags, and executed connections through zip-ties, jute, and nails. At the end of the two weeks, the structures were displayed at The Park School and we hosted a small opening event to showcase the work.
